Kyekyeku’s music derives from the traditional Ghanaian sounds of palmwine music, highlife and Afrobeat. With his guitar, Kyekyeku carries a distinctive Ghanaian sound and image.
Kyekyeku and his band of young musicians create a myriad of rhythmic grooves that ensure the dance floor is buzzing. His music looks more towards expressing Ghana and Africa through a sound and fashion aesthetic that pushes forward a vintage African renaissance.
Kyekyeku has been on tour across Africa and was a selected artist for MASA 2016, while the band has also performed in concerts in Europe and collaborated with world-renowned musicians including Peter White (UK/Jazz), Thais Morel (Brazil), Mayra Andrade (Cape Verde), and Blick Bassy (Cameroun).
"From a very cosmopolitan background in Accra, where most people of his generation end up doing Ghanaian pop or rap is Kyekyeku who has become an unlikely young man to have taken full fledge of this music form and made it his mainstay, playing in the traditional idiom as has been, but then also extending the frontiers further." - Afropop Worldwide
